The Gala’s welcome reception was an added feature in 2012. Eight wineries from Destination Hopland poured varietals during the wine and appetizers reception. Participating wineries included Weibel, Parducci, Nelson Family Vineyards, Campovida, Cesar Toxqui, and Terra Savia. Mendocino and Lake County food purveyors, including Stan’s Maple Café, Come to Your Senses of Ukiah, and Nicholas Petti of the College’s Culinary Arts Program joined DK Catering in providing eight appetizer stations, each paired with one of the wineries.

The meal was prepared by DK Catering, and consisted of a Caesar salad, grilled chicken penne pasta with roasted mushrooms, red onions, sweet peppers and Chardonnay cream, plus Tuscan ravioli with tomatoes, herbs, Parmesan and light cream served with bread and butter. Dessert was the chef’s choice.
